The story of Sourenee is an interesting one. The name is a combination of the words sour which is a kind of medicinal plant that grows on the hills and rani which means queen of the valley.
With a legacy that spans over a 100 years, the Sourenee Tea Estate distinguishes itself as a fully native enterprise. The tea estate received a new lease of life after it was taken over by Titagarh Wagons Ltd. in 2007. His love for the tea industry led to the formation of Sourenee Leaves Private Ltd, which currently owns and manages the tea estate.
The Estate covers an area of almost 137 hectares stretching in altitudes between 700m to 1300m, with an abundance of exotic flora & fauna that can be found gracing the surroundings. Situated at this high elevation, the Sourenee tea estate boasts of an ethereal natural beauty that makes it a true paradise for tea lovers.
